4:00 PM – List Field CLOSED

The Tournament of St. Michael shall be a Pas d’Arms, a tournament in the grand manner of Late Middle Ages as described in the great books of tournament as written by Renee d’ Anjou and others.  The Tournament of the 13th-15th century was more than just a test of martial skill… it was a spectacle, and a stage to display all the virtues of the age of Chivalry.  Our hope is to give participants and spectators a taste of that pageantry.

The Pas d’Arms of St. Michael shall consist of…

– Two teams (“Defenders” & “Challengers”)

– Grand Melee (single sword, counted blows)

– Conroi (teams of 4, fallen replaced by teammates until one team remains)

– Challenges (single combat, selected weapons styles)

– Final Grand Melee (as above)

“Winners” shall be determined by those present based on who has most greatly demonstrated the Chivalric Virtues, by looking and acting the part of the “most gentle and virtuous knight” and serving as an example to others.

Art of Defence Tournament:

Two separate tournaments.

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM – Authorizations and Inspections

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Round Robin (details tbd)

4:00 PM – List Closes

Brewing Competition:

Spanish-theme B&V entries are encouraged. Site is discreetly damp, and it is a Christian church, so be sure to respect the established norms of public view.

The format will be *pretty* similar to the Interkingdom Brewing Guild scoring system (http://www.greydragon.org/ikbg/judging_form.html )

The Feast!

Fiesta De San Miguel

The feast will be 14th Century Catalan by Mistress Dulcinea Maria Magdelena von Muhlberg y Aguilar (Melody Faith), which in itself is a reason at attend.  The recipes are being redacted from The Book of Sent Sovi, Medieval Recipes of Catalonia, (Edited by Joan Santanach, translated by Robin Vogelzang, Barcino-Tamesis, Barcelona/Woodbridge, 2014.) a cookbook from Catalan that was included in an early 15th century book with other 3 cooking treatises.  In the earliest extant version there are references to an even earlier book.  Versions continued to be published into the 16th century.  Feast cost $12.
